• Birthdays are special occasions for young children.  We would like to celebrate birthdays this year in a different way.  Due to a variety of allergies, I would like to request that your child celebrate their birthday with the class by bringing in a wrapped book or card game instead of a sugary treat.  The book would get a sticker that says

"This book was donated to the class on ______________________'s Birthday!"

• Students may bring in a non-food treat if they would like.

• I do not want anyone to go to a big expense, but I appreciate your cooperation in this matter.  It is very difficult for students with food allergies or medical reasons to be left out of a delicious looking treat.  I hope everyone understands and cooperates.  Unfortunately, if one person feels they are the exception to the rule, everyone follows and then treats take over the classroom.  Trust me on this one!
