Squid Dissection
What an exciting afternoon learning more about the sea creature "the squid". It was slimy, it was inky,(is that even a word?) and boy was it educational and fun!
We identified the fins, the mantle, the head, the arms (all eight of them) the tentacles, the eyes (including the marble shaped lens), the ink sac (when we pressed this it squirted ink) we found the pen, (this is a thin piece that runs along the mantle and looks like a piece of plastic) it offers support to the creature. We found hearts inside the mantle, and the siphon that helps the squid in its jet propulsion.

Some of us were worried about dissection, but everyone participated. We even had a chance to share what we learned with the K-2's. It was great!
This was a fantastic learning experience! Ask your child "What did you do in school today?"
